Fiber ball filter material is composed of polyester fibers and exhibits several advantages, including a high interception capacity, excellent filtration performance, renewability, and suitability for various water depth treatments and fine filtration processes.   This material is utilized to filter solid suspended matter in water, thereby reducing the concentration of solids and particle size within the water. Compared with traditional steel granular filter materials, fiber balls demonstrate superior elastic properties, no surface floating, larger interstitial spaces, extended working cycles, and minimal head loss. During the filtration process, the void ratio of the filter layer gradually decreases along the direction of water flow, aligning closely with the ideal characteristics of upper and lower pore structures as announced by filtration experts. This results in high efficiency, rapid filtration speed, significant interception capacity, excellent filtration effects, renewability, and compatibility with gas-water backwashing for the depth treatment and fine filtration of diverse water qualities.  

Fiber balls are extensively applied in industries such as oil fields, chemical manufacturing, power generation, metallurgy, and paper production for advanced water treatment, recycling, bypass filtration, and wastewater reclamation. Below are the key features and performance indicators of fiber balls:  

**First, Characteristics of Fiber Balls:**  
1. Fine fibers: Capable of intercepting a large quantity of fine particles, enhancing the precision of water treatment.  
2. Thick filter layers: Enable multi-layer filtration and stratified interception of solid particles of varying sizes, demonstrating strong interception capabilities, high removal rates, and low resistance.  
3. Elasticity: Individual fiber balls possess elasticity, facilitating easy backwashing and ensuring robust recovery capabilities.  

**Second, Performance Indicators of Fiber Balls:**  
1. Removal rate of suspended solids: 90-98% (under conditions where suspended solids concentration is 30 mg/L).  
2. Filtered water solid particle size: 2 nm - 3 nm (Note: Particles in the 2 nm - 3 nm range account for over 30% of total solid particle size).  
3. Filtration speed: 20 m/h - 85 m/h.  
4. Porosity: 96%.

**Third, Usage Conditions for Fiber Balls:**  
1. The medium is suitable for removing solid matter from oily water, iron, and certain bacteria. If used in oily sewage, the oil content in the water should be less than 3 mg/L, and backwashing should be conducted to remove oil residues on the medium.  
2. Backwashing should be performed promptly when filtration resistance exceeds 0.2 MPa - 0.25 MPa or when filtered water quality approaches control indices.  
3. Backwashing methods include air recoil or mechanical stirring to loosen the fiber balls and ensure proper buoyancy. Mechanical stirring should be conducted gently to avoid damaging the fiber balls.  
4. The recommended height of the filter layer is 1 - 1.2 m (this height refers to the loose state). Users may adjust this height according to specific needs; higher filter heights increase filtration resistance and removal rates, while lower heights reduce resistance and removal efficiency.  

**Fourth, Service Life of Fiber Balls:**  
The lifespan depends on operational conditions, including temperature, pH levels, corrosive components, the composition of the fiber balls, and their adaptability to the wastewater being treated. It also correlates with the quality of the selected filter material. Typically, standard fiber balls require replacement monthly, whereas modified fiber balls can last up to two years. After two years of use, it is advisable to open the system and replenish a portion of the filter material rather than replacing the entire batch. The exact service life also depends on the configuration and structure of the equipment.
